www.seiu503.org

I took over www.seiu503.org at the transition from version 1 to version 2 in 2002. I developed comprehensive information architecture and navigation for this complex and multi-layered statewide organization. I established and developed the site independently over the following three years.

My work paid off with first and second place awards from the International Labor Communicators' Association for Best Content and General Excellence in 2005 and 2006.

In 2007, I re-worked the SEIU 503 site again in conjunction with a system-wide overhaul. The SWEB system features templates, greatly improved content management, and options for social networking as well as video and audio.

Lobby Day Handbook

This site ran on our own server rather than through the system-wide SEIU program for ease in scheduling and tracking. With minimal time available for development, there was an over reliance on pdf documents, thus reducing the site's usefulness. The site was also limited by an organizational decision to prohibit blogging by members about their lobby day experience.

UPPNET

This organization is a loose and widespread network of video producers, each of whom has a network of links and a variety of interests. Working from printed newsletters, emails and monthly conference calls, I devised the information architecture and developed the content and then produced the site for a year.

The PRL Seminar

Starting with handwritten notes on musty and yellowed paper that had been stored in a damp garage, the history of the PRL project was recorded digitally and made available to the world at large.

The structure and design I created have endured over the past ten years. Successors have continued to publish developments in the PRL project.

Mission Mill Museum

This site was originally put together by volunteers and was overdue for an upgrade. I reworked the information architecture, created a site map, provided photos and graphics; edited and reformatted the text.

Putting the priority on the educational mission of the Museum, I developed sections for the Textile Design Center, the Education Department, and the Water Power exhibit. In line with marketing needs, I developed sections for the Museum Store, Facilities Rentals, and a collection of Links.

The number of visitors grew steadily from 15 in October, 1999, to 2,145 in March, 2001.
