The Red Tail is a feature-length documentary film that looks beyond the headlines of the historic struggle between Northwest Airlines and the workers whose loyalty and dedication built the company.
From a one-plane company in 1926, Northwest Airlines has become the fourth largest airline in world.
Through a combination of personal stories of mechanics, flight attendants, pilots, ground workers, and union organizers, The Red Tail will explore this battle over money, power, and pride.

We are excited to announce that a team of award-winning documentary filmmakers has started work on a film to document the struggle of the workers at Northwest Airlines called The Red Tail.
Whether you are a mechanic, a ground worker, a pilot, a flight attendant, a union member, or a someone who supports the rights of union workers, please consider helping make this film a reality.
| We need our stories told... the stories of the workers whose loyalty and dedication built NWA. |

Dawn Mikkelson, Jamie Lee, and James Fortier have produced films that have screened around the world at festivals including Sundance and broadcast on PBS.
Individual donations of all sizes will help.
The budget for production and distribution of The Red Tail is $300,000 and will be raised from fundraisers, individuals, and grants. In order to get that fundraising started, the producers need to create a five-minute preview video to show potential funders and stream online. That preview will cost just over $16,000.
Throughout the struggle between NorthWest Air and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA), many of us have become frustrated by the lack of attention and misinformation found in the media.
