| Purpose: To strengthen the awareness, preservation and educational programs of Mission Mill Museum. |
|
Mission Mill Museum is a unique Oregon treasure, one of the few industrial museums in the Northwest. The woolen mill story is coupled with the history of Jason Lee's mission to Oregon. When the Mill doors closed in 1962, an interest to save the Mill as a museum was successful when the Mission Mill Museum Association was formed in 1964. This community and volunteer effort is a testament to the legacy of Mission Mill: a landmark of historic value, industry and creative artistry. A recent capital campaign funded a $1.6 million renovation and restoration effort. The campaign allowed the expansion of the facility to include an Orientation Center, theater, new Museum Store space, and enhanced exhibitry, which now includes the PGE Water Power Interpretive Exhibit. Needs Statement Meeting our primary mission of stronger educational programming and curatorial excellence is vital. Further, even with Mission Mill Museum's successful 36-year history, we are still the Willamette Valley's best kept secret. The development of consistent marketing and promotional efforts is vital to the Museum's sustainability and the progress of the facility. Financial Goal $100,000 to strengthen:
