Living History at Magic at the Mill

Adelia Judson Tarkington Olley Leslie

Adelia Judson Tarkington Olley Leslie came to Oregon on the Lausanne, determined to be part of the Mission. When her first husband and son became ill and died just before sailing, she had to find another husband quickly to be included as a member of the Mission.

She survived three husbands and three children, and became "Aunt Adelia" to the community.

We believe that the Parsonage was the second frame building constructed in Salem after the Mission sawmill was established. It was the living quarters of the Methodist Missionaries involved with the Indian school.
